About KABA...

Who is KABA?
In the fall of 2006 a small group of dedicated citizens, educators and members of the Louisville Kentucky blind community began meeting to develop an organization to provide recreational and athletic opportunities for blind and visually impaired children and adults residing in the commonwealth of Kentucky. This group recognizes that a void exists in providing opportunities for blind citizens of all ages to engage in recreational leisure activities and competitive sports. It is our strong desire to fill this void through the programs of the Kentucky Asociation of Blind Athletes. In April 2007, the board of directors was elected and Bi-laws adopted for the organization. KABA is strategically placed to be the organization that will provide information, resources, and training to enable blind and visually impaired Kentuckians of all ages the chance to enjoy a healthy lifestyle.

Our Mission
From our bi-laws our mission is:

1. The Mission of the Kentucky Association of Blind Athletes (KABA) is to, increase the number and quality of grassroots-through-competitive, world class athletic opportunities for Kentuckians who are blind or visually impaired. We value the life enhancing aspects of sports and the opportunity to demonstrate the abilities of people who are blind and visually impaired.

2. This mission is accomplished by:

i. Supporting the growth and developement of member atheletes

ii. Educating the public by demonstrating the benefits of KABA and USABA in the lives of it's member atheletes.

iii. Actively recruting athletes and coaches.

iv. Provide member opportunities through program and events management and:

v. Provide local state national and international representation for member athletes.
